The Bánki Foundation was established by the National Technical Development Committee and two economic organizations, and was registered by the Metropolitan Court in 1991.
The reason for the foundation was the recognition that thorough higher educational training and the growth of knowledge are the chances of improve themselves. The aim of the foundation is to contribute to the development and continuous renewal of the educational training of the Donát Bánki Faculty of Mechanical and Safety Engineering of the University of Óbuda (its legal predecessor Bánki Donát College of Mechanical Engineering), to the expansion of its international relations and to the further educational training of engineers.
The foundation does not engage in direct political activity, its organization is independent of political parties and does not provide them with financial support. Over the past 30 years of operation, the foundation has been widely supported and fully funded for the following purposes:
Grants are awarded through tenders, and the Board of Trustees decides on the announcement of tenders and the award of grants. The Faculty provides the material conditions and premises necessary for the operation of the Bánki Foundation. Contributors to the work of the Foundation carry out their activities in social work without remuneration. In the last tender announced by the Bánki Foundation, for which the educational organizational units of the Bánki Faculty could apply with an indication of a specific development goal, a basic equipment, instrument, educational tool, software, hardware related to the curricula, The total amount of support received for the purchase of the supplement was HUF 8.5 million gross. This, in turn, significantly reduced the foundation's assets available for support.
From 2020, a new board of trustees took over the job and
our goal is to be able to continue our support!
In order to achieve the goals of the Foundation, it can use the return on the assets provided by the founders, as well as the support of individuals and business organizations that identify with the objectives of the Foundation. The Foundation is open to any natural or legal person with funds, things or activities. The intention to join must be notified to the Board of Trustees in a letter (e-mail) containing the amount offered.
The support of partner companies and economic organizations is of decisive importance for the successful operation. We ask you to support the work of the Foundation by providing financial support or tools, thus helping to raise the standard of engineering education at the Faculty and to make scientific research in the technical field more effective.
We therefore expect the support of all institutions and individuals who agree with the goals of the Foundation and wish to promote their realization in any form.
